What is a Marriage Contract?
The process called Marriage Contract or Marriage Contract is the official marriage transaction made between couples whose marriage is legally valid and in the presence of two witnesses. How is a Marriage Contract Made?
In order for the marriage contract to be realized, the spouses who apply for the official marriage must prepare the documents that should be included in the marriage file and go to the marriage office of the place where the marriage will be held together and make a written statement. Persons who cannot read or who are not physically able to do this must submit a declaration in the presence of the marriage officer with an oral application and the document must be signed. If there are those who apply for marriage who cannot sign, the fingerprint of the index finger of their left hand will be taken where they will sign. Marriage requests of the unrighteous and the mute should be determined with special signs, and if needed during the application and the ceremony, the transaction will be concluded through people who understand these special signs. Marriage is not a process that will be carried out by power of attorney with a marriage contract with at least two witnesses in front of the authorized marriage officer. The marriage officer asks the bride and groom separately, in the presence of the couple and the witnesses at the predetermined place and time, if they want to marry each other. Upon the affirmative answer of the spouses and witnesses, the marriage officer will announce loudly that the marriage has been made in accordance with the law. Then, the signatures of the bride, groom and witnesses are placed on the relevant parts of the wedding book. The marriage clerk signs the date and time with a note and gives the marriage certificate to the new couples. In this way, the marriage contract, or in other words, the marriage contract is completed.
