Legal Transactions Before Marriage
You said your first YES to step into a fresh and new life . It's the second time. But before; Do you know what is needed?
- Originals and photocopies of identity cards (must have pictures)
- Photo residence document from the relevant neighborhood headman, certifying that one of the couples is living
- 7 (seven) passport photos for each of the couples
- If there is a previous marriage and divorce, the last marital status has been recorded on the identity cards.
- Identity registration samples indicating their last marital status from the civil registry offices where they are registered
- Health report from the government doctor's office, Health Center or Municipality Health Affairs Directorate (couples to be married must come together).
- If one of the couples is a foreign national, the certificate of celibacy is obtained from the consulate in Turkey, approved by the Provincial Legal Affairs, and an application is made to the Marriage Office together with the documents mentioned above. For foreigners who do not have a Consulate in Turkey, a certificate of celibacy from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara is required.
- Those who are under the age of 17 and younger can obtain a marriage license from the court.
- Those who are under the age of 17, can apply with the above-mentioned documents with the notarized consent of their parents.
- Documents must be filled in legibly with a fountain pen or typewriter.
- Divorced women cannot marry within 300 (three hundred) days after the divorce. In order to be able to carry out marriage procedures , they need to get an Iddet decision from the Family Courts.
- Registration is done between 08.30-11.00 in the morning and 13.30-15.00 in the morning.
- Printed documents are obtained from the marriage office.
